Today, the City of Hamilton launched a new job posting website to resume essential recruitment efforts. The new platform will replace the previous job posting website, which is not operational due to the cybersecurity incident. With this solution, the city is not only restoring functionality but also using a customer-centric approach to enhance capabilities and offer a seamless and simplified user experience. The platform has been thoroughly vetted for security, privacy, and reliability, providing a safe environment in which to resume the city’s hiring activities.

The city’s recruitment efforts have been impacted by the cybersecurity incident, and we have not been able to post for full-time, part-time and student positions. The focus initially will be to hire essential and critical front-line roles, in addition to posting for student positions.

"Restoring our ability to post city jobs and summer student roles, is crucial for the operations of our city and also for providing valuable employment opportunities to our youth during the summer," said Mayor Andrea Horwath. “I am appreciative of our city staff for their dedication in bringing this platform online and extend my thanks to Hamiltonians for their patience and understanding as we recover and rebuild.”

The city has continued to respond to the ongoing cybersecurity incident since February 25, 2024. Throughout the response, the city has delivered the majority of core programs and services to the community, with more services coming back online regularly.

“We recognize the importance of maintaining a seamless recruitment process,” said Marnie Cluckie, City Manager. “This new platform not only simplifies the job application experience, making it straightforward and user-friendly, but also integrates with social media and key job posting platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed. This integration will enhance our recruitment efforts, expanding our reach and helping us to attract a more diverse pool of candidates.”

The city will continue to provide regular updates related to the cybersecurity incident recovery. For the latest information, a full list of service disruptions, and answers to frequently asked questions, visit hamilton.ca/cyberincident
