The Flamborough Chamber of Commerce supports local businesses and enhances community development, according to Matteo Patricelli, the Executive Director of the Chamber.
Patricelli detailed the three main pillars of the Chamber's activities: networking, affinity programs, and advocacy.
1. Robust networking opportunities
Patricelli emphasizes that the heart of the Chamber's mission is to foster strong connections within the business community.
"Our networking events, such as Business After Fives and various educational sessions, are not just gatherings. They are vital opportunities for businesses to connect, share, and grow together," he explains.
These events serve as a platform for entrepreneurs to strengthen their business relationships and integrate into the broader business environment.
Additionally, the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce recently honoured local businesses for their resilience and community contributions with its annual Outstanding Business Achievement awards.
This year's recipients included the Flamborough Food Bank, The CBY Academy of Performing Arts, M&M Products Quality Home Appliances Inc., Waterdown Collision, Charlene Oldham, and Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Jayne Scala.
2. Valuable affinity programs
The Chamber provides a suite of affinity programs that offer tangible benefits to its members.
"From discounts with major suppliers like Staples to unique offerings such as the Chambers Plan insurance program, these benefits are designed to help businesses save money and manage operational costs effectively," Patricelli notes.
Especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chamber was pivotal in distributing essential supplies like test kits to its members.
3. Advocacy and influence
A significant aspect of the Chamber’s work involves advocacy, acting as a voice for the business community at all governmental levels.
"We not only represent businesses but actively participate in shaping policies that affect the business landscape," Patricelli states.
The Chamber's involvement in city council committees, such as the Open for Business Subcommittee, illustrates its commitment to ensuring that the business environment remains conducive to growth and success.
Matteo Patricelli’s passion for the Chamber's mission is palpable. "Being involved with the Chamber since my early twenties has shown me the impactful role it plays not just in business but in improving the quality of life in our community," he shares.
For businesses within the Chamber and those considering joining, Patricelli suggests engaging with the Chamber through its website or social media to discover more about what it can offer.
"Whether you're a member or not, I'm here to assist any business within our community," he adds.
As the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce continues to champion local businesses, it remains a cornerstone of community and economic development, demonstrating that, indeed, "the whole is stronger than the sum of its parts."
