HAMILTON - Get ready to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Francophone art and culture as the Hamilton FrancoFEST returns for another spectacular year. From June 21 to June 23 the city of Hamilton will come alive with the vibrant sounds, flavours, and colours of la Francophonie, inviting everyone to celebrate and embrace the diversity that defines French-speaking communities.

FrancoFEST, an initiative launched more than 40 years ago by Centre francophone Hamilton, returns for three days in Gage Park, and announces summer with its usual friendly atmosphere. This year’s theme, Celebrate Franco Diversity, underscores the festival's commitment to showcasing the rich and varied cultural heritage of Francophone communities from around the world.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the celebration of La Saint-Jean Baptiste, on June 23, featuring performances by renowned artists from Quebec and Ontario. But first, to honour our National Indigenous Peoples Day, kicking off the festivities on June 21 will be an opening ceremony followed by a captivating show by Samian, an acclaimed artist hailing from Pikogan, a small indigenous community in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Samian's performance promises to be a truly unforgettable experience, as he proudly wears the colours of his people and shares his powerful message of identity, respect, and recognition. With his unique blend of music, photography, and cinema, Samian has captivated audiences not only across Canada but also on the international stage, including performances in France, Spain, Finland, China, and at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

A nominee for Indigenous Artist of the Year at the 44th Félix Awards in 2022, Samian continues to inspire and empower audiences with his artistry and passion for cultural expression. Admission is free.
