Water from the Rockton Sheffield Provincially Significant Wetland has covered Safari Road and turned fields in the area into swamps.

RE: Safari Road flooding casued by one man and his dirt pile, say neighbours, Feb. 9, 2024

I would like to comment on this and the follow up article

I agree that there isn't much that can be done about residents and what they dump on their property, but, the dumping occurred in the wetland. The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) was advised at the time and was provided with photos.

As for not paying the fines, there are steps in place to either get your money or add it to the taxes and maybe end up with the property.

It has been over 40 years since this has been a problem. (Former Flamborough) Mayor Ted McMeekin was advised over 30 years ago.

I lived on this property a number of years ago and I know first-hand the damage that has been done.
