Feb. 21 is Simoni Lawrence Day in Hamilton. Ticats fans are invited to the City Hall forecourt tomorrow to celebrate the star linebacker, who announced his retirement last week after 11 seasons with the team.

Mayor Andrea Horwath is inviting all Hamiltonians and Tiger-Cats fans from across the region to Hamilton City Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at noon to celebrate the career and profound community impact of Simoni Lawrence.

"I want to start off by congratulating Simoni Lawrence on an outstanding career with the Tiger-Cats," said Mayor Horwath.

"Simoni has been an extremely important figure in our great city for over a decade and has dedicated thousands of hours to giving back to our community and for that, we are truly grateful."

In recognition of his incredible contributions to our community, Mayor Horwath will present Simoni with the keys to the "Snowmoni Lawrence" snowplow in a special ceremony in front of City Hall.

The event runs from 12 to 1 p.m. at City Hall Forecourt, 71 Main St. W. in Hamilton.

Later in the day, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Football Club will host a sold out “graduation event” for Simoni at Tim Hortons Field.
