Heroes walk among us. And on Family Day, local residents can see what it feels like to make a heroic difference in the community – just by having breakfast.
Waterdown Rotary and Flamborough AM Rotary are serving up pancakes – and fun – on Monday, Feb. 17.
The Rotary Family Day Hero Breakfast takes place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Waterdown Legion. The menu includes pancakes, of course, along with bacon provided by Harrington Lane Farms, and juice and coffee.
In addition to a hearty meal, there will be face painting, crafts and games for all ages. Those who plan to attend are encouraged to dress up as their favourite local hero, such as a police officer, nurse, firefighter or soldier, or take it to another level and come as an action hero, like Iron Man or Superman.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Food 4 Kids program, which supports 31 students in local schools.
Advance tickets cost $40 per family of 4 (or more); $12.50 per adult and $10 per child. They can also be purchased at the door: $50 per family, $15 per adult, $12.50 per child.
